Smooth transitions are important in all phases of viticulture, especially when it comes to the winemakers
Let’s all welcome Margaret Thompson as our new winemaker. Most of you probably remember Maggie from her 2015 internship here. When she graduated from California Polytechnic State University’s renowned Wine & Viticulture program this year, it was just in time to help us in a critical period of transition. Winemaker Nathaniel Rose needs to work full time on his own label, and we need another winemaker who shares our philosophy and commitment to perfection. Maggie sums it up succinctly: “The fruit knows what it wants to do. Winemaking is the perfect combination of art, science, culture, and history. Sure you’re making wine, but really you’re making happiness.” Please stop by the winery to say hello and share some happiness!
