After a hectic beginning to the season, the 2012 vintage promises to be as exciting as the weather that created it.
An unseasonably warm March awakened our orchards, and the first buds broke on the vines in early May–well before the typical threat of frosts had passed. While our peaches did suffer the negative effects of the early thaw, our grape vines thrived throughout the hot, dry season. The perfect summer weather spurred an early harvest, with Chardonnay the first to be picked in late September. Sunshine gave way to wet and cool conditions in October, helping to extend a season that will produce some truly excellent vintage.
