The most vivid memory in this industry is recalling the seasons. Every season is remembered from bad, average, great to historic, as they all get a place in the long-term mental data bank.
The 2018 season could of become the benchmark for the greatest of all as the weather at the start and middle of the season was as perfect as it gets. However, the last part of the season - the finish, did not cooperate as well as it could of. Cool weather and lots of rain kept the fruit from achieving perfect ripeness. On a scale of 1 to 10, we’d give the season a 7. Not bad but we thought for a while that this might be one of the two or three greatest seasons a winemaker expects to see in a lifetime. The wine we made this season is delicious and well made including Suav Blanc, Riesling Trocken, Traverse Coast Blend, Dagüdscht, Pinot Vin Gris, Chardonnay Barrel, Viogier, Pinot Noir, Right Bank, Left Bank - all estate grown fruit.
